Douglas Barrios founder and owner operator of InnerFinish Construction has building and construction built in his DNA. Growing up in Sao Paulo Brazil, his great grandfather Jose Martinez and his grandfather Djalma Martinez used to fabricate red bricks in in the “olaria” (factory). Djalma and his brothers would help out with production and deliver the bricks within the city by carriage going door to door. With lots of hard work from family members, Djalma was able to expand into making cement, and opened a small room out of his house for people to purchase materials directly. The family saved enough money to purchase a truck and off they went expanding into delivering materials to local builders!
Business grew to the point that Djalma and his brothers were able to open 4 small lumber supply houses under the family name Martinez. As a young boy Doug would help out in the yards and load the trucks and help behind the counter as needed. Every brick distributed was stamped and backed with the Martinez Family Guarantee- a name which until this day stands for a symbol of quality construction and material in Brazil. Djalma began purchasing the neighboring lands next to his lumber yards and went on to build his own streets, single families and high rise apartments. Over time The Martinez family became one of the biggest builder/developers in Brazil. As a result of those many years helping out and working with his grandfather, Doug felt it was in his genes and only natural that he would continue in his family’s footsteps in construction.
After leaving his family behind and coming to America in 1999, Doug was faced with many obstacles of being alone in a new country and not knowing the language or his surroundings. Although it took many years, working lots of different jobs as an employee (food prep,waiter/server, hotel staff) , to opening small business gigs (carpet cleaning, residential cleaning, commercial cleaning), Doug continued to work hard and keep working towards his dream of owning his own construction business.
That dream is now known as InnerFinish Construction owned and operated by Doug Barrios.
